With only four more campaigning days to New Hampshire, the contest is getting more feverish and more ruthless. On the Republican side, the only certain things are that Rand Paul and Rick Santorum have thrown in the towel.
Paul’s withdrawal was a mild surprise, for there were several other candidates who fared less well in Iowa and seem unlikely to do much better in NH. Fiorina, Huckabee and Christie all look like no-hopers, but as the old saying goes “Hope springs eternal”. Bush and Kasich have more reason to pin some hopes on NH, but the giddy excitement now building around Rubio among the Republican establishment and the WSJ’s Israel supporters, is bad news for Jeb Bush and Kasich, even if Bush’s poll numbers improve.
Rand Paul’s isolationism in foreign affairs and his leaning to Libertarianism in social matters, did not appeal to us on this website. The most powerful nation on Earth cannot afford to be even mildly isolationist, and Conservatives cannot take a neutral stand on the moral behavior of its citizens. Disapproving toleration of sick and perverted behavior by those on the fringes of society is one thing, but indifference veering to encouragement ignores human nature and the contagion of moral disease and its cost. It has to be said though, that Paul is an honorable man and long may he thrive in the Senate. Santorum, too is a good man.
Today, Rush Limbaugh was grouping Marco Rubio with the Conservatives Cruz and Carson. He suggested that although the Republican establishment and its allies were rallying to the Rubio cause, it was because their other choices (Bush, Kasich and Christie) had little hope of beating Cruz and Trump. He implied that Rubio’s character and policies were not responsible for their support. He ignored the key issue of who bankrolls the candidates and thus calls the White House tune. Any candidate who is bank-rolled by Paul Singer and his friends of the American Opportunity Alliance, is bought and paid for and will use the Republican Party to advance the cause of sodomy, Third World immigration into America, and unconditional support for Israel. How this substantially differs from the RINO agenda and the Revolutionary agenda of the Far Left Democrat Party is for Rush to explain.
Carson, in our view another honorable man, accused the Cruz camp of having spread false rumors just prior to the Iowa caucus meetings. It seems certain that the effect of this foul play, even if not sanctioned by Cruz himself, decreased Carson’s vote and swelled Cruz’s numbers. This is pretty serious stuff, given that the first contest has a knock-on effect. If Carson had received more votes and Cruz less, it is possible that Trump’s tally would have been enough for victory. But maybe Rubio would have also received more votes.
Donald Trump is protesting that Cruz won by fraud because of the false Carson rumor and two other dirty tactics. Trump may be right, but his protests will not undo the result or their effects, and he would be well-advised to look ahead rather than backwards. He needs to get even more explicit about his Nationalism and also identify the big pay-masters of his opponents.
On the Democrat side, the old Trotskyite has finally taken off at least one glove in his fight with the woman who should be in an orange jump suit. We mentioned yesterday that Sanders’ followers were chanting ‘Liar, liar’ about Hillary. Now comes news that he has started talking about her email scandal, and not before time. It says much about Hillary and her followers that in comparison, Bernie is a knight in shining armor. Hopefully he realizes that in attacking her character and getting serious about winning, he has stepped outside the Democrat Party tent. That is a dangerous place to be.
A good reason to vote for The Donald has emerged. It is reported that 14% of senior Federal employees will resign their posts if he is elected to the White House. Of course, Lefties often make these promises. In the past Hollywood perverts and rich Lefties have made similar threats about leaving the country and never carried them out. It would be nice to have a President Trump who made 80% of Federal employees jobless (and pension-less!) and deported all of Hollywood to Cuba, North Korea, Saudi Arabia, Iran or Liberia.
The latest news about last year’s Amtrak crash is that the investigators are now concentrating on the engineer’s role. No doubt they must consider that Bosnian may have had a medical condition but let us hope they take a look into his homosexual private life and the character this reveals.
