Global Warming Grips America as Far North as . . . Florida.

Global warming has once again struck during American mid-winter. The following temperatures are in Fahrenheit and were researched shortly before and after 1 PM Pacific Time.

The facts: an eastern cold system has gripped much of America.

Progressing north along the eastern coast, Miami sees nearly 80-degree temperatures, Orlando is 70°, and Jacksonville has “shockingly” passed 50°. The average high in the city at this time of year is more than 60°, and around 1 PM in Jacksonville it is near its high. In other words, high temperatures in Jacksonville are ten degrees below average.

Continuing north into even more tropical conditions near the heat of day, Savannah (Georgia) reaches 42°. Nearby Charleston sees similar conditions, with temperatures at 40°. Once again, the average high at this time of year for Charleston is more than 60°, so temperatures here are more than 20 degrees less than normal.

Our trek north next takes us into the “heat wave”. Raleigh is one of the first cities in the northward direction to be below freezing, with temperatures down to 30°. For comparison, on December 19, the temperature reached 70°. The average at this time of year is about halfway between these two temperatures, at 50°. In Raleigh, temperatures are forecast to drop below 20° tonight and on New Year’s Eve, when it will get to 18°.

In Richmond, an “unusual” cold weather system brings temperatures to 25°, well below freezing. To add to the extreme conditions, it feels like 18° at 1 PM Eastern Time, shortly before the day’s high temperature is reached. However, a short hot spell sets on the city and temperatures climb to 44° on Saturday. They are forecast to drop once more and reach 11° in the early morning of January 6. The average high for this time of year in Richmond is 48°, and the average low temperature for this time of year is even warmer than it is now, 29°.

Further inland, temperatures are even colder. Charleston, West Virginia is at 20° right now.

However, these temperatures seem normal in comparison to the weather in the Northeastern United States. Philadelphia, a “hot spot”, is currently 21°. It feels like 12°.

Similar temperatures are felt in New York City, where it feels like 8°. Temperatures get consistently colder as one ventures east along Long Island, and it is 13° degrees in the far east of the island and feels like -3°.

Nearly all of Connecticut is in the 10s, except for a small portion in the northwest, where temperatures get as low as 8°. North Hollow, Connecticut feels like -4°.

Temperatures get progressively colder in western Massachusetts. As of 1:12 PM Eastern Time, it is 2° in Brier, and feels like -11°.

Things progressively get colder on the northbound in mountainous New Hampshire and Vermont. In Idlewilde, New Hampshire, it is -13° and feels like a bitterly cold -31° at 1:14 PM Eastern Time.

The larger city of Montpelier in Vermont is -2°. Generally, the city’s average high is 28°, and average low is 10°. In other words, the temperature is more than 10° below the average low temperature at the peak of the day. There is little relief for Montpelier on the forecast, and temperatures are forecast to reach -21° on Tuesday morning (Jan. 2).

This cold weather extends inland, as well. In Bavaria, Wisconsin, it is -1° right now and feels like -12°. In Gleason, Wisconsin, the temperature is 3° when the average daily high is 23° and average daily low is 4°. Once again, it is near the peak of warmth there as well.

This is just the beginning. Just before 1:30 PM Eastern Time, these are the temperatures for numerous selected cities in the USA:

Note: Wunderground strongly supports the global warming agenda. They will probably post minimal information, if any information at all, about the recent cooling trend in the United States on their “Category 6” weather blog.
